Hydration Gear

Importance of Hydration
Sitting and waiting for a target in summer heat, an airsofter still still beads up sweat. The water lost through persperation is designed to cool the body and keep one's temperature near norms. In order to keep cool, one needs to replenish their body's water supply. Most players aren't sitting in the shade planning the next strike on the opposing team from an air conditioned tent with a water cooler. The next best thing is to bring the water along.

The two most common hydration options are canteens and hydration packs.

Canteen
Canteens and flasks have been used for centuries to carry water and other refreshing drink with soldiers across the battlefield. Athletes use sports bottles but most players prefer something that can be attached to their MOLLE vest or belt. Local military surplus stores have a ready supply of canteens that are designed to endure field conditions and keep dirt out of one's water. Some players still carry water bottles instead of a canteen.

Hydration pack
Hydration packs are the handy water supply for the modern athlete, sportsman, professional soldier, or airsoft player. Hydration packs are plastic bladders that hold water or fluids and are typically tucked into a backpack, pouch, or large pocket on a vest. A tube runs from the colapsable bladder to a mouthpiece. The mouthpiece is designed to allow the owner to suck the water out of the bladder like a straw, bringing the water to them without removing the container from it's secure place in the gear. Hydration packs cost more than a canteen but they make hydrating easier on the move. They also require regular cleaning like any food storage container. Some companies manufacture cleaning solutions for these packs but a little baking soda can work as well. Clean it regularly and don't leave fluids sit for long periods in the bladder.
